Notes

Beckett states its figures flatly and "both ways": the ratio must hold on each axis independently.
These are tolerances for the centering SUBGRADE. Beckett says the final grade "is not a simple average of the four subgrades … the lowest grade is the most heavily weighted."
BGS 9 keeps the front at 55/45 (same as 9.5) and only loosens the back.
Half-point grades "share characteristics of the levels above and below."

What centering does BGS require for its top grade?

Pristine 10 / Black Label: 50/50 on the front and 55/45 on the back.

How is centering measured?

Compare the two borders on each axis (left vs right, top vs bottom). A card whose left border is 55% of the left+right total is "55/45". Services use the worse axis.

Does BGS publish back centering figures?

Yes for some grades — see the table.
