PSA declared value: which tier your card needs

Read from PSA’s Trading Card Grading page (its pricing, Premium tiers included) on 2026-11-02: every fee, cap and turnaround as on 2026-10-29. SlabbyPrep counts Value ($39.99, cards up to $500) as not open because it sits under PSA’s notice “Value Services Are Temporarily Paused”, though PSA still lists it with Get Started. Checked 2026-11-02. Official page.

How PSA treats the figure: PSA calls each tier’s figure the Max Insured Value. If PSA finds a card worth more than that after grading, it moves the card to the right tier and asks you to pay the difference in service-level price and shipping charges, so the figure works as a value cap.

Questions

What is declared value at PSA?

The value you put on each card when you submit it. Every open PSA tier except Premium 10 has a maximum value per card, so the declared value decides the cheapest tier you may use: as published on 2026-11-02, Standard for cards up to $1,000, Priority for cards up to $1,500, Express for cards up to $2,500, and so on up the table; Premium 10 has no cap, at $9,999 per card, plus $399 per $10,000 or part above $350,000.

What happens if my card is worth more than I declared?

PSA calls each tier’s figure the Max Insured Value. If PSA finds a card worth more than that after grading, it moves the card to the right tier and asks you to pay the difference in service-level price and shipping charges, so the figure works as a value cap.

Which PSA tier do I need for my card?

$450: Standard ($59.99); $900: Standard ($59.99); $1,200: Priority ($79.99); $2,000: Express ($199); $4,000: Super Express ($349); $8,000: Premier ($599); $20,000: Premium 1 ($999). Prices as published on 2026-11-02; you may also choose a faster tier whose cap covers the card.

How much does crossing a value cap cost?

over $1,000: $20 more (Standard to Priority); over $1,500: $119.01 more (Priority to Express); over $2,500: $150 more (Express to Super Express); over $5,000: $250 more (Super Express to Premier).

Does the fee include shipping and insurance?

No. These are PSA’s per-card grading fees; shipping and insurance to and from PSA are extra and depend on the value you declare.
